The iOS and Android app is almost here! This has been a lot of work, but we are nearly done. This We’re Alive app is a great ay to listen to the free podcast version, or also purchase the ad-free ones as well.
We have been beta-testing with many users and are finally getting through all the bugs.
Here’s a look at what the app has to offer, features:
- Story-first episode browsing and listening progress
- Saves your progress to your account so you can pick up where you left off.
- Ad-free chapters and enhanced transcript testing
- If Ad-free versions aren’t on your account, the free podcast version is available.
- Higher-fidelty audio files.
- Download the Audio files directly into the app
- CarPlay – Works in your car
- Cast & crew Info – For each chapter
- Wiki & Chat – Tied into the forum, with updated listings/info.
- Apple TV browsing, playback, and remote-control testing
- Patreon-Linked accounts
- If you’re the explorer tier, you get the ad-free episodes built-in.
Things we’re still working on:
- Doing more transcriptions, only a few Chapters are available right now and they’re not 100% accurate yet, season 1 will be available at launch.
- Updating the Cast/Crew information
- Uploading the chapter audio source-files for the higher fidelity files and updates.
- Premium-In-App purchases for all seasons linked to the App-Store.
This first feature is very cool it’s a transcript/character display system. It’s requiring us to have to clean up a LOT of transcript data, so a lot of the transcripts will come online as we clean them up. One of the biggest issues is accuracy, and even with the scripts, there’s a lot that needs tweaking, but we have a system in place to clean it up and revise it.
