M134 Minigun

The M134 Minigun is a heavy automatic weapon used by the United States Army. The same weapon is used by the Air Force under the designations GAU-2 and GAU-17, and by the Navy as the Mk 25. The minigun features six barrels that rotate as they fire, and is capable of incredibly high rates of fire.

  • Weighs 85 pounds for weapon alone

  • Originally developed in the 1960s, it was used extensively in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan.
  • Continues in production with very little change from when it was introduced.
  • Used as armament by helicopters, fixed wing aircraft, boats and vehicles.
  • There is a man-portable version, which was featured in the movies Predator and Terminator 2.
