The story of Goldrush starts with the sound of a tape being played back. The voices of the 4 soldiers; Puck, Carl, Robbins, and Muldoon; come to life. Robbins gets upset with Carl over how he is recording the film they have been working on. With an hour left before they have to return to The Colony, they begin discussing their script after some insulting of Carl. Within moments, another issue arises; the script is hand-written and only comes in a singular copy. Robbins suggests just memorizing the script. Muldoon makes fun of the bad handwriting, causing Robbins to fire up. After some slight bickering, the soldiers finally move onto the movie. Puck is given the role of Pedro, a Mexican, and Muldoon plays Mimi. As usual, both soldiers do not find their roles "satisfactory". Robbins dismisses it as "symbolism", and tells the group to just go along with it. Muldoon quips that Robbins is relating his role to his favorite non-existent restaurant that he slobbers about in his dreams.

Carl chimes in asking what role he gets to play, and Puck asks who Robbins will be playing as well. He responds with the name Marlin. Muldoon assumes he means Marlon Brando, a famous American actor. After Robbins dismisses that, the rest of the group assume he meant Marlin the Fish from Finding Nemo. This pisses off Robbins even more, who states that his character doesn't even have a last name, ending the conversation. The soldiers take a look at the script again and realize that it's nothing close to the movie ideas they talked about beforehand. Puck expected a musical, but Robbins says they gave up on that plan because he doesn't even know how to write one and nobody would want it anyways. Muldoon suggests a "space zombie invasion" theme, because of how easy it is to get the setting right. Carl makes a point right here, posing the question: "Why would anyone want to see a movie about a zombie apocalypse... in the zombie apocalypse?"

As usual, the soldiers think he is very dumb in that line of thought and correct him on his usage of "the z-word", saying that he better not say that around Michael. Puck backs up Michael's point, but Robbins calls him the worst insult in the book: a Michael apologist. This ends this conversation very quickly. Robbins moves on to focusing on everyone learning the lines for the movie scene. The theme is decided to be space zombie invasion, but Carl suggests "zomb-pires" which Puck points out sounds like zombie umpires. Robbins completely shuts both of them down and announces he's actually written the story to a whole different theme after all; a zombie Western. As per the ushe, the soldiers find this idea ridiculous.
